But seeing the paintings in the museum convinced me... and the final straw was that the museum had the book, "A History of the Artists Rifles: 1859-1947" by Barry Gregory. So enough said, I had to buy the helmet! WebThe Artists Rifles arrived in Northern France at the end of 10 1914. Received his commission as Sec-Lieut. 20.3.1915. KIA less than two months later during the Battle of Festubert 16.5.1915. Along with many others of the 2nd Bn Border Regiment who died during the battle, his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial.
