One of South Africa’s most renowned female artists, Siopis is primarily interested in what she calls the ‘poetics of vulnerability’, an interest which manifests itself in bold explorations of history, memory and migration as well as shame, violence and sexuality. WebShe returned to South Africa to teach at the Technikon Natal from 1980-1983. In 1984 she moved to the University of Witswatersrand. She is currently an Honorary Professor at Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town.
