WebI loved Bone Tomahawk but absolutely hated Brawl in Cell Block 99. To me, it felt like Zahler saw all the feedback for Bone Tomahawk centred around that scene and just doubled down on all the violence for Cell Block 99 eschewing the compelling characters and dialogue that make Bone Tomahawk so riveting. WebHorror doesn’t have to be ‘scary’, that’s subjective. A Horror Film intends to horrify. Bone Tomohawk is clearly trying to horrify you with feelings of being trapped, being under attack, losing loved ones, gore, exploration of the unknown, and ‘savages’. Personally I didn’t like it. Thought a good idea was ruined.
